Black Sheep Coffee intending to take over former Joy premises
December 24, 2022 Chiswick High Road is set to have yet another coffee shop with Black Sheep Coffee planning to take over the premises at number 322 formerly occupied by the Joy Boutique. The company says it is the only coffee retailer in the world to serve 100% specialty grade Robusta Coffee in a market dominated by Arabica. It was founded in 2013 by university flatmates, Eirik Holth and Gabriel Shohet, and has expanded from a stall in Camden to over 35 branches across the capital, recently opening in Fulham. Its signature flavours include Robusta Revival, Rebel Decaf and Blue Volcano and Norwegian waffles are also served. The café will be 105 square meters with 46 covers according to designs submitted with an application for advertising displays outside the premises. When asked why Chiswick was chosen as the location for its next branch, a spokesperson for the group said, “We are opening in Chiswick because our mission is to rid the world of average tasting coffee, so Chiswick is the next spot that needs some Black Sheep Coffee!” The number of coffee shops in Chiswick has continued to grow despite difficult trading conditions for hospitality companies. Oree recently opened further up the High Road and Pret a Manger is planning to start trading soon. The unit was advertised with a rent of £85,000 per annum.
