The latest addition to Chiswick High Road looks set to be a French-style bakery.

Oree Boulangerie is planning to open at number 340 which used to be the Clarks shoe store before being converted into a mobile and vape store.

Plans submitted to the council as part of an application for a change of use at the address show that there will be 32 seats in a ground floor café. It is not clear from the plans whether baking will take place on the premises or if produce will be transported in from other venues.

The chain already has 10 stores mainly in upmarket parts of London including Notting Hill, Chelsea, Covent Garden and Parsons Green. It will enter a competitive market for premium baked goods on the High Road with Gails already established and more recent entrants such as Ole and Steen seeking to make an impact.

The company was founded by Elizabeth and Laurent d'Orey who say they seek to bring the taste of their childhood boulangeries and patisseries from authentic France to the London ‘blending French tradition with the modern soul’ of the capital.

They work with ‘artisanal experts’ from Nantes, in Southwest France, using a selection of 20 specialist French flours to create recipes exclusive to Orée.

The product range includes freshly baked artisan morning pastries, artisan bread and pâtisseries, alongside a selection of savoury snacks, sandwiches and coffees, to eat-in or takeaway. The company also offers delivery through the main online delivery platforms.

We have contacted Oree Boulangerie for comment but have not yet received a reply. Its web site confirms the intention to open in Chiswick.
