Bakery chain Greggs has confirmed that it is planning to move into larger premises next door to its current branch on Chiswick High Road.

The popular chain which specialises in savoury products intends to vacate its existing store at number 364 and move into the former premises of Halifax Bank at 366-368.

A company spokesperson told us that the opening of a ‘new and improved’ store would take place in the next few weeks and further details would be shared closer to its launch.

Greggs is understood to have taken a ten year lease on its new home and the unit it is leaving is being offered for rent.

The company has seen significant growth over the last few years and now has over 2,300 branches in the UK including those in airports and railway station. It has diversified its product range to introduce plant-based and healthier food options including the vegetarian sausage roll in 2019 which, despite initial controversy, has proven to be a popular product. It is also seeing a growing proportion of sales from online delivery apps.

The company’s revenues reached over £1.5 billion in 2022 driven by both the expansion of store numbers and increased same-store sales.
