Hounslow Council has announced that it is temporarily suspending access restrictions in the Grove Park area.

The decision has been taken due to the extra congestion in the vicinity caused by emergency utility works taking place around Hogarth Roundabout.

This means that the South Chiswick Liveable Neighbourhood restrictions on Hartington Road, Staveley Road and Thames Road/Strand on the Green will not be enforced. Enforcement was suspended on Thursday (14 June).

Access to Burlington Lane from the A316 remains closed.

According to Cllr Peter Thompson, the leader of the Conservative group on Hounslow Council, the borough was not informed that these works were taking place, either by Transport for London or the utility company. However, he believes it may not be a requirement if the work is being carried out as an emergency.

Further congestion within the Grove Park area has been caused by works by Thames Water on Thames Road which is leading to traffic being diverted down Pyrmont and Geraldine Roads.

In addition, there are 4-way traffic light controls near the Grove Park Bridge to enable work on the new piazza and improvements to a crossing.

Earlier in the month there had been longer tailbacks that usual on the northbound A316 due emergency gasworks on Burlington Lane near the junction with Caxton Road although this work is completed.

It is hoped that the work will be completed over the weekend which would mean that the restrictions will become operational again at 8am on Monday 17 June.

The restrictions normally apply 8am to 7pm (Mondays to Saturdays) except for buses and permit holders.
