No enforcement on Staveley Road and Hartington Road until the New YearHartington Road will be open to all during the holidays December 6, 2023 Hounslow Council has confirmed that access restrictions in the Grove Park area are to be suspended over the Christmas holidays. From Christmas Day to New Year’s Day there will be no enforcement of the restrictions on Staveley Road, Hartington Road and Strand on the Green/Thames Road. Fining of motorists without exemption will resume on Tuesday 2 January 2024 with the normal operational hours of 8am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday. Chiswick Riverside ward councillor Peter Thompson said, "This is welcome news for residents in Grove Park and Strand on the Green and I would like to thank the Council for bringing a little Christmas cheer to winter days for residents and visitors. The last thing anyone wants is a penalty notice for family and friends using the wrong road over the holiday period. This scheme was imposed on us by the London Borough of Hounslow against the overwhelming opposition of both local residents, businesses and councillors, and to the great detriment of the most vulnerable in our community. There are huge cost-of-living pressures on the people right now which is why we think that where there is not local support low-traffic neighbourhood projects should be looked at again. " The council says the restrictions, which were introduced as part of the South Chiswick Liveable Neighbourhood scheme, have been successful in reducing through traffic in this area.
