Chiswick development wins prestigious design award
Chiswick Business Park found itself in reputable company this week
when it was bestowed with the prestigious Civic Trust Award alongside
such renowned designs as The London Eye and The Tate Modern.
The Civic Trust Awards aim to highlight the very best urban and
environmental design, over 500 projects “of an exceptional standard"
were entered.
When announcing the winners they praised Chiswick Park stating “The
architectural forms are sophisticated, elegant and immaculately
detailed. The detailing and quality of the buildings is the outcome
of a dynamic partnering arrangement between the design team, client
and contractors. This development’s central design concept puts
people first. Unlike most office developments this site, with its
many amenities, is open to the public. Chiswick Park will be a catalyst
for enhancing the local community as well as the businesses that
move here.”
Ron German, of Stanhope plc, will receive the award on behalf of
Chiswick Business Park from the Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr John Connelly
at a ceremony planned for this Friday 21st February. Upon receiving
news of this award, Ron German said: “We are extremely pleased that
Chiswick Park has been recognised by the Civic Trust as an exemplar
of civic design. Our aim has been to create a people focused placed
where the Landscape, Architecture and Amenities would make a positive
contribution to the work environment that would also benefit the
local community.
“A lot of the credit for this achievement goes to the Architects
The Richard Rogers Partnership, to our on site management team led
by Kay Chaston and to the London Borough of Hounslow in supporting
good design.”
Mike Jordan, Borough Planning Officer for the London Borough of
Hounslow said: “We are delighted that a development in our borough
has won such praise from the Civic Trust. Hounslow has an enormous
amount going for it. With a number of important developments such
as those in Hounslow, Feltham and Brentford, the next ten years
will see the transformation of the borough into a thriving centre
that can take its rightful place as the international gateway for
London.
“As
planners it is our role to work alongside developers to maximise
the opportunities for our local community. If we work together,
we can ensure that we can all benefit from high quality design such
as Chiswick Park, as well increased access to jobs, leisure facilities
and affordable homes.”
