Seb Chadwick had an undiagnosed brain condition
March 26, 2024 A 38-year-old man collapsed and died while playing football in Chiswick this Saturday (23 March). Seb Chadwick was playing for the Civil Service FC first team in an AFA Senior Cup Semi Final fixture against Old Carthusians when he collapsed on the pitch at the Kings House Sports Ground. He had an undiagnosed condition which caused a brain aneurysm. Paramedics were on the scene very quickly and CPR was performed before he was transferred to intensive care by ambulance. The match continued ending in a 5-2 victory for Civil Service after extra time with some of Seb’s teammates going to his bedside afterwards along with his girlfriend and family but he was later pronounced dead. The Civil Service Football Club posted on social media that it was ‘deeply, deeply saddened to announce the passing of Seb Chadwick’ adding, ‘‘Seb played for the club for 12 years. He started in the 4th team moving on to represent the 1st team and during his time played for all sides across the club. He won league titles, cups and promotions across all of the sides he played for. Seb was a great centre back, an amazing competitor who you always wanted on your side when going into battle. He was a very popular member of the club, we always knew when Seb was in the room. Although many tears have been shed over the last two days there have also been many smiles as we have remembered him and the laughter we shared. ‘‘Our deepest condolences go out to his family, his girlfriend and all his very many friends. ‘‘There is a huge Seb shaped hole in all our lives.’’
