Thames Towpath 10 Set for Return with Over 700 Runners |

West 4 Harriers organising the event again after four year break
March 10, 2024 Entries are now open for the Thames Towpath 10 which is returning for the first time since the pandemic It will be the 30th time the event has been held and gives local runners the chance to race along a 10-mile riverside course starting and finishing by the Old Deer Path in Richmond. It is taking place on Sunday 7 April with a start time of 8.30am. The route passes Kew Gardens before joining the towpath near Kew, heading to Chiswick Bridge, then back along the towpath towards Richmond Lock and back into Old Deer Park. The course is flat, the terrain varies and is uneven in stretches. Primarily pavement and gravel with mud in places and limited lengths of the towpath. The West 4 Harriers, a community-based running club which has been operating for 25 years, will be organising the race which will be a professionally timed chip RunBritain licensed event. It is often used as a warm up event by people intending to do the London Marathon. Entries cost £26 for affiliated runners and £28 for unaffiliated. Click here for details of how to register. Everyone who enters will receive a memento of a beautiful bespoke pint glass courtesy of The Swan Pub in Chiswick West 4 Harriers competes in a number of local road and track events, as well as the Surrey League cross country league, where it races with other county clubs. The club, which prides itself on its inclusivity, says it has seen a surge in membership recently with a wide and varied collection of runners joining.
