If Georgia Bell has a better year than 2024 it will have to be quite something.
The Chiswick athlete, who stunned the athletics world by coming from nowhere to win bronze at the Paris Olympics, has capped the year by getting married.
She wed George Hunter at church in the middle of the West Sussex hills on Saturday 19 October. The wedding had an autumnal theme to match the season and the event including the reception at the Green Trees Estate was blessed with sunshine.
Just six days later she returned to her former school, Cardinal Vaughan, to be interviewed by her father Andy Bell about her return to athletics, her Olympic experience and the career switch from cyber security to a professional athlete.
The following day she was introduced to the crowd at half time at Brentford FC’s match against Ipswich Town on Saturday 26 October.

Athletics Weekly named Georgia ‘Breakthrough Athelete of the Year’ for 2024 after a season in which she not only won a medal in the 1500 metres but became national champion, won a silver in the European championships and smashed her personal best at both 1500 and 800 metres becoming the fastest British woman ever in the former.
She posted on Instagram at the close of this year’s outdoor season, “I’m so proud of the season we put together. I hope it shows that just because your path is unconventional it is not impossible. There is no set blueprint to reach the top so don’t let anyone tell you ‘you can’t do it’
“I will always remember this period as the most exciting of my life. The main thing I will remember is that feeling on the start line of hope and determination.”
