There is uncertainty over the future over the Vinoteca chain of wine bars, including the one in Chiswick, after the company which owns them announced plans to appoint administrators.

The Devonshire Road branch opened in October 2013 on the site of the Oriental Brasserie and has been a popular venue with local people ever since.

The fifty-seat venue was one of five sites that the company operates from. It was set up in 2005 by Brett Woonton, Charlie Young and Elena Ares with the first branch in Farringdon followed by openings in Marylebone and Soho.

Last year the company opened its first branch outside London in Birmingham, but the venture lasted less than a year.

The concept is based on the wine bars of Italy and Spain which also function as wine shops.

Going into administration provides the company that owns the bars protection against its creditors and means that it is possible for it to continue operating in the hope of a restructuring or sale of the business to new owners as a going concern.

We have contacted both the local branch and the company for a comment.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
