The owners of The Hound pub on Chiswick High Road have confirmed that it will be officially opening next Wednesday (17 July).

Taking over the site at 210 formerly occupied by The Crown and before that Carvossos, this is the third pub from Dominic Jacobs and JKS Restaurants, and will be open for lunch, dinner and bar snacks seven days a week.

Housed in the walls of a Victorian police station, it is being described as a modern-day coaching in and will include a pub floor, an reception room, two private dining rooms, a covered outdoor courtyard and a south-facing front terrace. The main private dining room seats up to 18 guests and features an exposed brick ceiling from three combined former prison cells. Two wine cellars also housed in former cells sit alongside the room, with original jail bars and prison doors kept in place. The outdoor courtyard has a retractable glass roof.

Live sport screenings will be shown on TVs throughout the pub and courtyard, with the private dining room at the back of the pub (‘The Green Room’) benefiting from a large projector screen.

In August, The Hound will open four boutique guest rooms situated above the pub.

Executive Chef John Sparks will work alongside Culinary Director James Knappett of two Michelin-star Kitchen Table in Fitzrovia, serving a diverse menu inspired by British pub classics.

Drawing on popular choices at The Cadogan Arms and The George, The Hound menu features Black Pudding Scotch Egg with Oxford Sauce, Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Blue Cheese Sauce and Bubbledogs Hot Sauce, and Ham, Egg and Chips with Spiced Pineapple Ketchup.

Signature dishes sit alongside new offerings exclusive to The Hound, including Grilled Red Prawns with Chilli & Garlic Gremolata and Focaccia and Salt Cod Croquettes with Lemon Aioli and Coriander. Exclusive main dishes will include the Highland Wagyu Hound Dog with Ogleshield Cheese, Sauerkraut, and Charcuterie Sauce, Chicken & Leek Pie with Mashed Potatoes and Buttered Greens and Pea & Ticklemore Risotto with Mint Oil, Toasted Cashews and Lemon. Desserts include Raspberry, Mint & Lemon Eton Mess and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Sunday Roasts include Native Rump of Beef with Bone Marrow Gravy and Horseradish Cream and Shoulder of Lamb with Garlic & Herb Sauce and Gravy. A children’s menu will also be available throughout the week, including a Children’s Sunday Roast served with all the trimmings.

The Hound’s beer list features established breweries alongside craft ranges from leaders in British brewing, including South West London’s Sambrook's Brewery. A bespoke Morhoch Cornish Pilsner created by Cornwall’s Harbour Brewing Co. will be served alongside local cask ales and perfect pints of Guinness.

The cocktails at The Hound are categorised by four styles - Signature Serves, Market Specials, “& Tonics'' and Non-Alcoholic. Market Specials will be made with fresh ingredients sourced from the local daily Chiswick Fruit & Vegetable Market located next to The Hound. Signature drinks include Hound’s Summer Cup (Seven Tails XO, Amaro Montenegro, Strawberry & Cucumber Oleo, Lemon, Lime & Bitters) and Beeswax Negroni (Chase Elderflower Gin, Cocchi Torino, Campari Beesou Honey Aperitif, Wax Bottle-Aged).

As well as a ‘concise and considered’ wine list, The Hound is delighted to be pouring its own label tap wines created in collaboration with Uncharted Wines.

Dominic Jacobs, Managing Director says, “We are excited to be taking over this historic site in Chiswick, it has long been a cornerstone of the local community and we hope that it will continue to be one, offering a welcoming space for socialising whether for a drink, meal, special occasion or overnight stay. Both The Cadogan Arms and The George have embedded themselves in their respective local communities over the past three years and are thriving as a result. It is with the same ambition we hope to launch The Hound.”
