Hoardings have appeared at the front of the former Hothouse café on Chiswick High Road heralding the arrival of a new café which is hoping to open next month.

The signs, which invite potential customers to ‘savour the soul of Egypt’ have been put up by Alaz Catering which is planning to reopen the premises.

Hothouse, which also specialised in Egyptian food, closed shortly after its licence was revoked this February following representations from the Home Office who had found illegal workers at the business during two separate inspections.

Owner Samy Amer had said that it would be impossible for the business to continue without revenue from the music and karaoke nights held in the evenings. However, the new café is not planning to get a licence.

Owner and Managing Director, Sabrina Tolba, told us, “We are very excited. We plan to open beginning of May offering a different dining experience for consumers. Specialising in Egyptian food with a modern twist. We will be serving coffee, breakfast favourites, brunch and late lunch. We won’t be serving alcohol so no licence is needed but we may have some light entertainment occasionally. Opening hours will be initially from 8am until 6pm and may be extended to dinner service later on in the year but unsure for now.”

The café will also take orders for delivery.

Alaz will be based at 448 Chiswick High Road.
