For 10 years, restaurant L'Amorosa has been providing top quality Italian food to locals and has proved to be a popular spot.

During that time, they have survived one pandemic, one catastrophic flood and several staff shortages. And now L'Amorosa has announced it is is closing its doors for good on 13 July.

Chef Andy Needham spoke to us and said the time just felt right: after being the chef patron at the stove for 10 years, he wanted to concentrate more on private catering. He will miss the restaurant but at the same time, it will be a relief not to be the sole chef with the weight of providing amazing meals day in and day out. He said that if he had been able to build a team that could run the restaurant in his and his front of house and manager wife Lynn's occasional absence, he wouldn't be taking this step. He just feels the restaurant scene has changed since the pandemic with people more reliant on deliveries of food eaten in their own homes.

But Andy will not be giving up cooking: he couldn't! Instead he will now be able to take up the catering work he is constantly being asked to do. And perhaps enjoy the occasional meal out cooked by someone else! He is a fan of independent restaurants with well deserved good reputations and will continue to enthusiastically suppport fellow local, non-chain eateries.

In the meantime, there are 6 weeks remaining so for those wanting a last hurrah at L'Amorosa can head over quickly.

Dear Lovely customer.

Breaking news: Just like the prime minister, we have called a date.

July 13th is the time to say goodbye to our full-time commitment to our restaurant L'Amorosa. But it’s not sad news – we have six weeks to celebrate. And yes, we shall celebrate. So much!

Originally we moved to west London for our children’s schooling - and now one of those is leaving the nest and the other gearing up to do the same. So, it’s time to reclaim our lives!

Fourteen years ago, Andy left Zafferano’s and we opened what we hoped to be a neighbourhood restaurant you will have come to know as L’Amorosa (an anagram of Lynn, Andy, Morgan and Rosa - our children) meaning the "the loving”. Over 10 years later it’s time to close the doors.

We have celebrated weddings, birthdays, births, and christenings. You name it, we have celebrated it with you. And along the way we have also met incredible, interesting, phenomenal people - it‘s been a wonderful ride.

We have been so lucky as our fantastic customers (YOU) have returned time and time again - through the pandemic and throughout the economic crisis. This has kept us going - and in the process made you not just great customers, but also friends.

The pleasure of creating fabulous food in a relaxed environment was always our passion and the reason we built L’Amorosa all those years ago, and there are many reasons for reaching our decision, but the primary one for us is that when push comes to shove it’s just not fun any more.

So, on the 13th July we will be closing the doors on the restaurant full time. We have accepted an offer to sell and we will be stepping back.

Andy has some interesting projects which he can now pursue at leisure and we already have a number of private bookings pencilled in: two birthdays at Lindon House for Veronica, three anniversary celebrations at various venues & homes for Chris, Sarah and Charles. We have agreed to a wedding in Oxford. And also, maybe a pop-up restaurant for a weekend or two in the not, so distant future – watch this space!

So, we are not bailing on you, and we’re not moving away. If you need us please email us (info@lamorosa.co.uk). We want to keep in touch and we are happy to discuss any catering needs, big or small, without the pressure of the restaurant.

We will miss the restaurant – well, not all of it! But we have been proud to offer quality food and service for many years and this is something Andy and I plan to continue well into the future.

We thank you so much for all the support you have given us over the last decade or so, and no doubt we will see many of you again at some point down the line.

In the meantime, if you want to see us, and dine with us, before we say goodbye to L’Amorosa you had better book in soon! Only six weeks left to go! Thank you.

Chef Andy & Lynn
