The W4 Youth Fundraising Tree was officially launched earlier this month in a bid to raise more funds for a new youth and community centre.

The event was held alongside a Rocks Lane Padel Tennis social and Aimee Fuller, two time British snowboarder Olympian was there to give her support for the project to build the centre Southfield Recreation Ground.

Also present was Chris Warren, the founder of Rocks Lane who has been supporting the initiative and Cllr Gary Malcolm, the Lib Dem ward representative for the area the centre is to be situated. He is a trustee of the W4 Youth charity.

Sally Chacatté, W4 Youth Founder and Chair, said, “Massive thanks to Rocks Lane for this wonderful event and their continued support in our journey to expand the work we do with the young people in our community. The W4 Youth Fundraising Tree is now located at Rocks Lane and we thank everyone for their donations supporting us to give more young people free activities and a place to belong.”

Cllr Malcolm said, “W4 Youth thank all those who have helped us over the past ten years. Our aim is to continue to provide a safe space, to bring out the star in everyone of us, enabling potential beyond the game and well into adulthood. As part of this we look forward to meeting residents and businesses in the community who can support us as funding partners to build a youth and community centre that will help young people with that safe space in years to come."

Chris Warren added, “I have fond memories of our local youth club in Yorkshire where I first picked up a racket and knocked a ball around and the rest is history… We want to give the opportunity to every child to pick up a racket, kick a ball or shoot a hoop. That’s why at Rocks Lane we have partnered with W4 Youth to give every child a chance to play sport in a safe environment. Let’s build a sports facility for all of the community to enjoy irrespective of background! The foundations are laid…”

W4 Youth provides provide sporting and other activities for teenagers from mainly Chiswick and Acton.
