The West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society have announced that they intend to hold a march and public rally against the over-development of West Chiswick.
A march held earlier this year attracted over 200 people and was headed by local celebrities Rula Lenska and Mike Smith. The planned march will follow the same route from Power Road to Turnham Green. The Society are concerned about the "croydonisation" of this part of Chiswick, particularly plans for a 28 storey high office block above Gunnersbury station. The theme of the march is : 'To preserve the heart of Chiswick & Gunnersbury and STOP the over-development of office space. To ask Hounslow Council to listen to us'. A spokesperson for the group said, "We're also fighting to conserve historic buildings in the area." Much of the West Chiswick was recently incorporated into a new conservation area.
