Chiswick High Road is scheduled to be closed eastbound until Tuesday 9 April between Chiswick Roundabout and Cambridge Road North.

It is understood that the closure is necessary to allow Thames Water to complete work on a burst water main near the junction with Chiswick Roundabout. No work was taking place at the site on Tuesday 2 April.

The work has been timed to coincide with the school holidays and has not led to significant congestion since it commenced on Tuesday 2 April although it is anticipated journey times will increase during the evening rush hour.

Westbound traffic is not affected and vehicles are being directed to use the bus lane.

There appears to have been an increase in traffic approaching from the north on the North Circular using Power Road to access Chiswick High Road.

Westbound traffic is being instructed to use the bus lane

Bus routes 237, 267, H91 and N9 towards White City or Hammersmith are on diversion via A4 Great West Road, Sutton Court Road, Heathfield Terrace and Sutton Lane North. Bus stops 'Thorney Hedge Road' (K), 'Gunnersbury Station' (B) and 'Chiswick Road' (S) will not be served.

Route110 towards Hammersmith is on diversion via A4 Great West Road, Sutton Court Road, Heathfield Terrace, Wellesley Road and Oxford Road North. This allows it to serve all current bus stops but journey times will be increased.

The work is currently scheduled to be completed at around 6pm on Tuesday 9 April.

We have asked Thames Water for an explanation as to why the work is necessary.
