Chiswick looks set to get a new budget hotel after Hounslow Council planners recommended approval for a 113-bedroom Travelodge on the High Road.
The application which was submitted in 2020 but delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak is scheduled to be considered by the borough planning committee this Thursday (11 November). They will be presented with a report from planning officers which proposes that the hotel should be given the green light.
The applicant, Forest Hill Properties Ltd, says that the hotel would enhance the area's visitor economy and provide the equivalent of 20 full time jobs. Although the hotel will have a bar and restaurant these would not be intending to compete with local hospitality businesses.
The site at 632 Chiswick High Road, close to Chiswick Roundabout is surrounded by residential properties to the south, the Peugeot car dealership to the west, Royal Embassy of SaudiArabia Cultural Bureau to the east, and various industrial uses to the north along Power Road.

The nearest hotels are the Novotel on the A4 and the Clayton Hotel on Chiswick High Road. There is a Travelodge close to Brentford, near Kew Bridge, with 111 rooms.
The hotel would include the Travelodge ‘Super Room’ format, which caters especially to business and corporate travel requirements.
The project is being led by the prospective land owners, Forest Hill Properties Ltd. Travelodge has agreed terms subject to planning permission being granted to take a long lease, with an option to renew subsequently.
The Hounslow Local Plan 2015-2030 estimates that between 2007 and 2026, there will be a requirement for 2,000 net additional hotel rooms in the borough
