Go Ahead Given For Chiswick Antiques Market

An application to hold an antiques market on Chiswick High Road has been approved by a Hounslow Council Licensing committee.
The Chiswick Antiques & Vintage Market has been given permission to place stalls which run from outside Chiswick Police Station to the South Beach Shop at 123 Chiswick High Road.
The market will take place from 9am to 3pm on the second Sunday of each month with the first one due to take place on 13 December.
Antique and vintage goods and collectables would be on offer including furniture, clothing, decorative items, ephemera, maps, art, jewellery, toys, records, garden ornaments and lighting.
The licence was granted for six months to Jennifer Titmuss of Corky Events who runs a similar market in St. Albans. This has been operating on a monthly basis for over two years and has been back in action since June after interruptions due to high winds and Covid-19.
Ms Titmuss said, "I would just like to say that I'm so pleased that I can bring such a lovely Antique and Vintage market to the vibrant and eclectic area of Chiswick. Its such a fitting place for it and I hope the good people of Chiswick and surrounding areas enjoy it."
There will be up to 64 pitches which would be 3 metres wide and under gazebos. Each pitch would have their own queue direction as directed on a plan. When social distancing regulations are relaxed the number of pitches could be increased to 80.

There were two objections to the application on the grounds of the extra risk it presented of spreading the coronavirus. Cllr Jo Biddolph also raised concerns about access to ATMs and a possible rise in related theft if the area around cash machines was more crowded.
During a meeting that was held online, Ms Titmuss told the committee that she would regularly monitor health and safety including Covid-19 related matters so that social distancing rules were not breached. She pledged to monitor each and every trader to ensure that if they had symptoms or were feeling unwell that they did not attend. Also, she will ask that all traders wear face masks and that she will monitor any queues at the stalls by walking up and down the market to ensure social distancing rules were being followed and, where necessary, she would ask people to move on rather than congregating in one area.
The licensing committee imposed a number of conditions on the grant relating to social distancing particularly on stalls between Brackley Road and Devonshire Road.
