9 Round applying to set up in former bookmaker's premises
An application has been submitted to Hounslow Council for a change of use for the ground floor of 548-550 Chiswick High Road. This used to be a branch of Ladbrokes the bookmakers but the applicant wants to convert the site into a 98sqm kickboxing fitness studio called 9 Round. It would retain the existing footprint of the site and create an open plan gym for personal and class workouts. The gym would be run on a membership-only basis. The application has been made by RAF Brothers Ltd whose directors are Raphael and Frederic Cournede. The planning statement gives the operating hours of the gym as 5.30am to 10pm every day but in a noise assessment report it is stated that it will be open 6am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm Saturday and 8am to 3pm Sunday. The most convenient way to do make your views known on the application is through an email to planning.objections@hounslow.gov.uk quoting planning reference: P/2020/1769. The council continue to place the statutory notice for planning applications in the Chronicle and Informer alone even though it is not generally circulating in the Chiswick area and the government has advised local authorities to use other media when there is a deficiency in existing arrangements. Some local residents’ groups this could provide part of the grounds for a judicial review should the council approve schemes during this period.
