A 34-year-old man has been arrested by police in connection with the discovery of human remains in Shepherd’s Bush and Bristol.

He is reported to be Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera who was the subject of a police appeal earlier in the investigation. One of his social media accounts show him eating fish and chips in the Crown and Anchor pub in Chiswick although the date the photo was taken is unknown.

A local connection with the discovery of the body parts of two men by Clifton Suspension Bridge on Wednesday evening (10 July) became apparent when police sealed off Scotts Road just north of the Goldhawk Road this Friday afternoon (12 July) after more human remains were found in a suitcase near a block of flats and inside one of the flats. Forensics officers remain on the scene and the road is closed.

Following a joint operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police and Avon and Somerset Police, a 34-year-old man was arrested at Temple Meads Station in Bristol in the early hours of Saturday, 13 July and has been brought to London for questioning. The police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

On Friday, police arrested a 36-year-old man in Greenwich, but he reportedly was released without charge.

Eye-witnesses reported seeing a wheeling a suitcase across the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the evening of Wednesday 10 June. Some even jokingly asked him if there was a body in the suitcases as it appeared to be very heavy.

The man, who had arrived in a taxi, was chased by a cyclist, and he escaped after making off towards a wooded area. He is reported to have said in Spanish ‘my boss is very bad’ before he fled.

The police arrived shortly after and found that the suitcase, and another one found nearby, contained human remains.

These were later identified as two adult males and body parts discovered in Shepherd’s Bush are believed to be from the same two victims who have yet to be identified although police have stated earlier that they believe they know who the men are.

The Met Police had previously put out a statement saying they wanted to speak to a 34-year-old as a priority but then withdrew the appeal after the arrest.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said, "This is a significant development in our investigation and I would like to thank the public for their support.

"We understand the concerns of local communities in both Bristol and London and officers will remain in the Clifton and Shepherd’s Bush areas over the coming days to reassure those affected by this tragic incident.

“Anyone with any concerns is encouraged to speak with them.”
