Star chatted to tennis players on the towpath by Dan Mason Drive
July 21, 2024 Hollywood film star Julia Roberts has been spotted around Chiswick this week as she is working on her new film in the area. Part of the Thames Path around Dukes Meadows by Dan Mason Drive was screened off and the 56-year-old star of Pretty Woman and Notting Hill was seen in a white shirt and trousers chatting with the film crew and hugging her husband Danny Moder. The riverside spot appears to be being used to represent a scene in America with a parking sign from that country temporarily erected and a car with US plates parked up. Two members of a local sports club were surprised to encounter Ms Roberts as they were walking home after a game of tennis and she chatted to them briefly as they went by on the riverside path. The road remained open but had to be narrowed for the set leading to delays for people coming to and from clubs in the vicinity. The film she is working on is an Amazon production called ‘After the Hunt’ a university-based thriller directed by Luca Guadagnino who was also behind the camera for the recently released ‘Challengers’ and received an Oscar nomination for ‘Call Me by Your Name’. Also appearing will be Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri and Chloë Sevigny with a script from first-time screenwriter Nora Garrett. Ms Roberts portrays a college professor whose life becomes complicated when a pupil makes an accusation against one of her colleagues. This threatens to bring to light secrets from her own past which she would prefer remain buried. A release date for the film has yet to be announced.
