Funds needed to pay for life-saving surgery for Simba

An appeal has been launched to pay for life-saving surgery for the resident dog at a Chiswick café.

Simba was born in the same year that Tamp Café opened on Devonshire Road. His owner Dorian describes him as part of the roots and foundation of the business, and he was often seen around the premises.

However, he is currently in hospital and has been assessed as needing surgery for a spinal issue. He was insured, but the policy does not cover the costs of this operation and his owners have had to take out nearly £10,000 in personal loans just to pay for the scans and other examinations.

It is estimated that £15,447 will be needed to pay for the cost of his operation and rehabilitation. The surgery alone costs £6,500 and Simba will eventually have to stay in hospital three times with each visit costing over £1,000. On top of that is the cost of MRIs, CT scans and medication.

A crowdfunder has been started to raise the money and at the time of writing just over £2,000 of the £15,000 needed has been donated.
