Local rowing club four win by just two seconds Luke Howard, Tom Jack, David Bulmer and Adrian Elliott (left to right) It was another successful year for Thames Tradesmen’s Rowing Club at the 2022 British Rowing Masters Championships held at Nottingham on 11 June. Adrian Elliott, David Bulmer, Tom Jack and Luke Howard won the Open Masters C Four’s Race pipping Agecroft Rowing Club to the post by just 2 seconds. The race was highly competitive between all clubs from start to finish but Thames Tradesmen’s were always narrowly in the lead. The last 300 metres the crew was beginning to tire but with the support from the travelling club members, they found their inner strength. Crew Member Luke Howard said after the race, ‘That was a tough competitive race and the head wind we faced made the race tougher. Delighted for the crew who trained so hard for this competition, it clearly shows the fitter you are the greater the potential you have to win races’. Thames Tradesmen had another crew in the Open Masters E Fours Race which narrowly missed out on a medal place despite the crew of Chris Tidmarsh, Matt Tomkins-Kenward, Paul Arnold and Ian Perham putting in a stellar performance. Club Chairman Nigel Brophy said ‘It’s great we’re putting Thames Tradesmen back on the map. These guys worked so hard for these races and it’s just great to see their hard work has paid off. We’re continuing with our very popular Learn To Row course, getting people out on the river. We now have these novice rowers with their new skill entering local regattas throughout the summer – a wonderful sight to see’. Thames Tradesmen’s Rowing Club is now located at University London Boathouse on Hartington Road whilst Hounslow Council are building a new boathouse in Duke Meadows. The new boathouse should be completed by September 2023.
