The most read story on ChiswickW4.com during 2016 was the report on the fire at a riverside office complex. A blaze struck Pier House on Strand on the Green in the early hours of Sunday morning on 17 January. Over seventy fire fighters and ten fire engines were called to the scene and residents of nearby homes needed to be evacuated from the area. Some spectacular footage and photos were taken of the fire at a building in which James Grant Media group an agency which represents a number of local celebrities including Ant and Dec and Clare Balding was based. Also popular was the more recent incident in which a Routemaster bus ploughed into and office building on Chiswick High Road and the surprise appearance of Brad Pitt at B&Q near Chiswick Roundabout. As ever, stories about the local property market were popular with the top story of this kind being the sudden closure of the agency set up by former contestant on the BBC's Apprentice, Jamie Lester. The confirmation that the new cinema had received planning permission was also very popular as was an item on the possibility of Sainsbury's undertaking a huge development in the centre of Chiswick. The list doesn't include crime stories as there were possible legal issues to do with suspect identification with republishing some of the more widely read items on this subject.
