Beacon
Schools play a vital role raising standards
by sharing good ideas and best practice with
other schools in their area. This helps raise
achievement in exams and raise standards in
school management and discipline
Each
Beacon School is awarded, on average, £36,000
to fund work with other schools. The Government
is investing £47 million in total this year.
Ivan
Lewis, Minister for young people and learning
said: ‘Beacon Schools help raise standards
in other schools by sharing knowledge and talent.
The programme has already helped many schools
to benefit from advice and experience shared
by the some of the best schools in the country.
We know from previous experience that Beacon
schools and the schools they work with get
a great deal out of these partnerships.”
John
Betts Primary in Shepherds Bush was also awarded
Beacon Status.
