Fuselodge to Close After Decades of Service |

Electrical repair service on Acton Lane will be sorely missed
November 30, 2024 It is sad to see that the business of Fuselodge in Acton Lane will be closing soon. Fuselodge has provided the residents of Chiswick, Acton and from further afield an excellent repair service for electronic equipment: radios, audio and hi-fi, televisions and computers. As well as these services to the community, Fuselodge has provided design and prototype services to a well-known local manufacturer of equipment for diesel engines. Back in the 1970s, Fuselodge was acquired by Nirmal Sabarwal. At that time the business bought and sold electronic components, and in 1987 the company was established in Acton Lane. Initially it traded as a component supplier, mainly dealing in surplus components that were bought from product manufacturers and then re-sold to hobbyists and low-volume manufacturers. The company slowly started taking in repairs that usually required new components to be fitted and, thus, the consumer side of the business started. Many products that would have otherwise been consigned to the mountain of electronic waste, have been given a second life by the skills of Nirmal and Pali. These skills are a rarity and will be sorely missed. Nirmal had moved to the UK from Nairobi, Kenya and the political situation deteriorated after Kenya separated from the United Kingdom and became a republic in 1964. He was joined by his brothers Pali and Aneet. After 37 years in business, the two brothers are closing their business to enjoy their well-earned retirement and to spend time with their young grandchildren. The premises in Acton Lane are now for sale. As well as the shop at street level, there is an excellent two-bedroom modern flat on the first floor and the timing of the closure is believed to be dependent on the sale of this flat.
