Signalling problem at Barnes causes trouble for commuters

South West Trains were forced to cancel trains from Waterloo and announce diversions following a signalling problem at Barnes today (April 23).The disruption, which continued into the evening, affected hundreds of commuters along the Hounslow Loop and for outer London.

According to the SWT website, on the "Hounslow Loop" - a reduced service will operate. Services which leave London Waterloo at 7 and 37 minutes past each hour will be cancelled. Services which leave Waterloo at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour will run normally.

 

London Waterloo to Reading - These services are unaffected by this incident (in both directions).

London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside - These services are unaffected by this incident (in both directions).

London Waterloo to London Waterloo (via Richmond then Kingston) - These services are unaffected by this incident (in both directions).

London Waterloo to Weybridge (via Brentford and Hounslow) - These services will not call at all stations Barnes Bridge to Hounslow.

"Hounslow Loop" - a reduced service will operate. Services which leave London Waterloo at 7 and 37 minutes past each hour will be cancelled. Services which leave Waterloo at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour will run normally.

Trains will only operate from Platform 1 at the following stations:

Barnes Bridge

Chiswick

Kew Bridge

Brentford

Syon Lane

Isleworth

Customers travelling to from these stations towards Hounslow/Feltham/Staines should travel to Barnes and change.

Journey times for customers travelling to/from stations on the "Hounslow Loop" will be extended.

London Underground will accept SWT passengers on the Piccadilly line via any reasonable route.

London Buses will accept SWT passengers between Barnes and Feltham via Brentford and Hounslow.

Engineers are on site but at present we have no estimate for when a normal service will resume.

The train company says it is sorry for the disruption.
