Brentford 2 - Carlisle 1
Loanee striker Jeffrey Schlupp justified his decision to stay with Brentford rather than play for Germany U19s by scoring a brace to sink Carlisle in a 2-1 win.
The two JPT finalists cancelled each other out for most of the game although a rushed Moore clearance at the start led to a good chance for Craig Curran.
Brentford had half chances too with a Bean header blocked and a Schlupp flicked header drifting wide.
The game burst into life late on when Schlupp converted from 12 yards with 74 minutes on the clock.
The Leicester loanee doubled home advantage ten minutes later after a goalmouth melee before Michalik set up a nervy finish with a well taken Carlisle free kick.
Simon Moore - preferred in goal to Trevor Carson - had a decent enough game although he looked a bit nervous early on.
It was good to win - with the JPT final just nine days away - but it looks as though the teams are fairly evenly matched. Robbie Neilson left the pitch on a stretcher after 64 minutes so must surely now be a doubt for Wembley. Karleigh Osborne was absent from the squad tonight, presumably injured.
Brentford end the evening on 52 points which should more or less guarantee League One football next season.
