Colchester 0 - Brentford 2
Brentford put in another good team performance last night to take all three points at prootion chasing Colchester United.
Andy Scott kept the same four in midfield with Sam Saunders putting in a decent attacking performance for the second game in a row - one mazy dribble almost ending in a goal.
Brentford took the lead when Bean flicked on a Saunders corner and Gary Alexander crashed the ball home from close range for his sixth of the season.
Colchester rallied after the break and put some pressure together - Richard Lee saving well from Henderson in the pick of the hosts few clear cut chances. The U's also had a penalty appeal turned down - Karleigh's push ajudged to have taken place outside the box rather than inside.
Brentford wrapped up the points late on when some quick wit from Alexander set substitute Michael Spillane loose and his low cross was duly converted by Charlie Mac.
Substitute Myles Weston appeared to pull up with a hamstring problem during his brief appearance last night - so this Saturday's 'weekend off' could come at the right time.
All in all this was another improved performance with, dare I say it, some decent enough football long the way.
Scotty again used the press conference to vent some anger at recent criticism - if his team could produce performances like yesterday's at home then this would probably be a better solution all round.
Bees - Lee, Woodman, Wright, Osbourne, Legge, Dave (Weston 65, Spillane 80), Bean, Kev, Saunders, Mac, Alexander (Simpson 90+1)
Unused Subs - Forster, Hamer, Hunt, Pim
