Brentford were the better team but failed to knock a sprightly Aldershot team out of this year's FA Cup.

Aldershot took the lead after Luke Guttridge went easily past Stephen Wright to cross the ball to Wade Small in acres of space in the Brentford penalty box. He coolly brought the ball down, turned and shot in one movement. One-nil Shots.

The bees put the pressure on with Simpson shooting at will and hitting the post with one of them.

After 20 minutes Wright looped a ball into the box which MacDonald headed the ball over the on-coming goalie into the net for the equaliser.

It was a fairly entertaining first half with Brentford having the better of it and indeed looked comfortable.

At half time most bees fans were expecting the win and the players came out and dominated the game. There were plenty of chances with balls regularly flashing across the Aldershot goal, lots of goal line scrambles and blocked shots.

Against this Aldershot managed to hit the post on one of there early forays forward. With about 20 minutes to go the game opened up and Aldershot started attacking more and more, using the pace of Small and McGlashan to good effect.

By the end Aldershot looked the most likely to grab a winner until an injury time strike from Forster flashed just past the post.

Scott made some changes for this game using it as an opportunity to rest some players and give others a run out. Simpson replaced Wood on the right with Forster taking his place in the centre forward role. Legge was replaced by the returning Pim. Kev was dropped to the bench to give Dave a game. Simpson seemed much more comfortable and effective on the right and was probably the pick of our players in the first half. Neither Pim nor Dave did anything to even give Scotty food for thought in replacing Kev or Leon.

Forster was pretty anonymous apart from his injury time strike and a shot over the bar also late in the second half.

Lee; Wright, Osborne, Balkestein, Woodman; Simpson (sub Hudson 85 mins), Bean, Diagouraga (sub O'Connor 77 mins), Weston; MacDonald, Forster

Subs (not used): Royce, Legge, Spillane, Saunders, Wood.
