Charlton 2 Brentford 0
League leaders Charlton continued their winning run with a 2-0 win over an improving Brentford side.
Andy Scott's team looked slightly in awe of a decent Charlton team and soon found themselves a goal down after a shoddy back pass by Sam Wood allowed the impressive Lloyd Sam to square the ball for Deon Burton to slam home.
Charlton doubled their lead through dangerman Sam on the half hour after a fluid move of 20 or so passes tore Brentford apart.
Brentford had an appeal for a penalty for handball from an O'Connor strike turned down but in truth deserved to trail at the break.
Things improved after half time with Brentford's best chances coming from two Cort headers and a late David Hunt free kick which hit the corner of post and crossbar although Charlton had their half chances too.
The Bees crowd were lifted by the unexpected return of striker Charlie Macdonald who played the last thirty minutes up front as a substitute for Cleveland Taylor
In truth today was always going to be a stiff test, and Charlton looked very comfortable in possession, but Andy Scott will take heart from Brentford's second half performance.
