Cab related tip from a local - "If you are using a black cab from Heathrow airport - say that you are going to Brentford then the cabby can return to the front of the queue at the airport and will probably carry your bags to your door. Chiswick is the shortest trip east of the airport that you can't do this - I suffered years of scowling cabbies until one of them had the sense to tell me."
