Top price bracket homes dominate sales again

A large proportion of sales in the W4 post code area continue to be in the top price bracket. Of the 72 homes sold during the month of July in Chiswick 20 changed hands for over £1,000,000.
This drove the average price level up to £902,415 suggesting that the market is reaching new record highs.
The highest price transaction taking place during the month was the sale of a house in Dukes Avenue which cost its new owners £3,250,000.
The July data from Land Registry's House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 6.3% in London taking the average property value up to £385,799. Nationally the average in England and Wales rose by 0.8% to £164,098 Repossession volumes decreased by 23 per cent in May 2013 to 1,365 compared with 1,765 in May 2012.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during May 2013, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 19% to 62,651 compared with 52,516 in May 2012. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in May 2013 increased by 28% to 740 from 576 in May 2012.
