The
front garden, behind a traditional palisade fence with four
finial-topped brick piers, is partly paved with york stone,
part brick and part tiled. It is planted with climbers, evergreens
and shrubs. The side drive can accommodate at least two cars.
Queen Annes Grove is a quiet, tree-lined road with very
little traffic.
The
double area hall has original glazing in the front door and
in two windows. There is a guest cloakroom and cupboard under
the stairs.
The 3 large inter-communicating reception rooms, all 11' (3.35m)
high, have the original cornices and, from two of the rooms,
french doors to the patio and garden. The original wooden
floors throughout have been sanded, sealed and bleached. There
are two fireplaces - one for an open fire, one with the original
surround which has a gas-coal fire and a french enamel Godin
stove in the third.
The kitchen has white marble surfaces and old pine cupboards,
a tiled floor and a pretty west-facing window onto the garden.
A small pantry leads to the utility/garage with a french door
to the garden, a tiled floor, teak tops, plenty of cupboards
and wine storage.
The west-facing rear garden has a tiled, sunny patio with
a magnolia grandiflora and french doors from 2 reception rooms.
The garden is well stocked with mature evergreens, shrubs,
and perrenials. There is a small greenhouse, a timber- framed
workshop and a very popular bird bath.
