Strong local interest in the new build near Wickes
The Redrow building project at 500 Chiswick High Road of 59, one, two and three bedroom apartments, seven penthouses, and five, four-bedroom townhouses, is proceeding apace with a good deal of local interest. One Chiswick resident has even reserved an apartment for her nine-year old child. The units all have private outdoor space, whether it be balcony, patio or garden. The apartments as envisaged by Redrow The site is close to Wickes, and was formerly an office building of 2-6 storeys providing serviced office space and dating back to the late 1960’s. We were taken on a site visit recently to see how things were progressing. There may still be some changes ahead, for example they were experimenting with cladding colours, with the preference leaning towards a dark cream 'Cotswold' style brick. Prices range for example for a first floor one-bedroom flat of 567 sq feet to £635,000, while a second floor three-bedroom with balcony, of over 1,000 square feet is priced at £1.16m. There are two parts to the development, the block facing the High Road and another to the side of the main entrance. A view of the scheme There will be car parking available, for a fee, on selected apartments and the parking will all be underground. The team say that interest is mostly coming from local downsizers and young professionals who like the village feel and amenities of Chiswick but require easy access to the City. The boundary to the rear, which is a disused railway line, gives privacy and there are mature trees. They say that what makes 500 Chiswick High Road really interesting is that there are few new builds in Chiswick. It therefore offers an opportunity to enjoy the Chiswick lifestyle from a ready to move into new build as opposed to a period property. There isn't an 'affordable housing' element, but there are three Discount Market Sales units. Tina Dedman, Divisional Sales and Marketing Director of Redrow London, said that each of the apartments had been designed with generous proportions, and particular attention has been shown to the open plan living area. The private balconies will overlook a landscaped courtyard. Redrow is currently involved with ten high profile developments in London - including its landmark development, One Commercial Street ( an 80 metre mixed used scheme above Aldgate East station), for which it won Best High-Rise Apartment Building in the UK’ the 2013 UK Property Awards
