Bruce Frederick makes Freddie Flintoff look tame
A loss by the Chiswick and Latymer 1st XI to Burnham was tempered by a superb display of batting by Bruce Frederick for the 2nd XI. The opening batsman hit the highest individual score for the club of 196 off only 111 balls and included 11 sixes. The 1st XI restricted Burnham to 216-6 with Munir and Khan getting half centuries for the visitors. Chiswick in reply could only manage 163, with a hard hitting 40 from keeper Jon San Jose being the highlight. The 2nd XI moved to the top of division 4A after a comprehensive win over Falkland. Frederick’s massive hitting, along with a patient 76 not out from Nick Badman saw Chiswick set Falkland 333 to win. With an excellent all round bowling performance, the home side were all out for 119. The 3rd XI were well beaten in a relegation battle at Datchet, while the 4th XI climbed to the top of the table in division 7A thanks to a superb all round performance from Roan Plotz (60 not out and 7-28). Matt Aggett also got seven wickets for the 5th XI, helping them to a good win over OMT. In the Sunday Old Boys League, Chiswick and Latymer were well beaten by Old Wimbledonians, despite an excellent knock of 53 not out by skipper Matti Watton.
