Vote in the Chiswick Restaurant Poll

Being the selfless people we are at ChiswickW4.com, we accepted the kind invitation to attend the opening of the Globe Bar in the much anticipated Chiswick Moran Hotel.

Already buzzing with local residents and an inordinate amount of Irish evidently over for the craic, the 17 metre long bar (apparently the second longest in Europe) occupies the right hand side of the substantial space.

Behind the bar is a line up of a a mind boggling selection of bottled and draught beers, which is unsurprising considering that Bar Manager Adam Simmons is a true beer aficionado as well as being great talent with creating cocktails.

Adam has brought a truly global feel to the drinks list with beers and "grown up soft drinks" from around the world.

Alongside the fruit, chocolate and champagne yeast beers (to name just a few) the Globe Bar also serves draft beers from Fullers, English and Irish ciders and wine from an impressive list including a house red that could easily hold it's own in any company.

The Globe Bar's opening had been anticipated by no one more so than me who had been promised the very first Chiswick Cosmopolitan by Adam, which, in his opinion, will be unrivalled.  One taste convinced me that his confidence was not misguided and that it had been well worth the wait!

We also had the pleasure of sampling the bar menu which consists of a well thought out selection of dishes to suit not just every time of day but all moods.

As it was exceptionally hot on the opening night, a large meal would have been out of the question which made our roasted vegetables on foccacia bun and Irish steak burger both served with well made chunky chips just perfect and priced at £6.95 and £7.95 respectively meant that the meal was great value for money too.

When trying to describe the Globe Bar in words, we considered the best way was to say it is very unlike a traditional hotel bar.  Decorated in dark, sultry tones and furnished with retro funky accessories, The Globe Bar is much more sexy New York lounge than Chiswick Roundabout which will make it an undeniably welcome addition not just to this end of the High Road, but to Chiswick as a whole.

Napa Restaurant will be opening soon.
