Local Martial Arts Club Members Selected For National Squad

Two members of Chiswick based martial arts club Ilyeo Taekwondo have been selected to join the British Taekwondo GB Cadet squad. Darcey Stenzel and Tommaso Cavagnini attended the selection events in Manchester along with other young hopefuls from across the country.

“It was a great achievement for Darcey and Tommy and a great achievement fo the Ilyeo Club ” said Head Coach Azamat Bekturov a former British Champion. “We had four members of our club invited to attend the final selection process and we are fortunate to have two selected for the national GB squad.” Darcey Stenzel capped off a memorable weekend by winning a bronze medal at the Generation 24 Taekowndo Championships in Sindelfingen, Germany.

Ilyeo Taekwondo holds regular sessions at the Hogarth Youth Centre, the Russian Orthodox Church and Strand on the Green Schools. “We are proud to produce medal winners and national squad members, but we see ourselves as a club catering for all abilities where youngsters learn skills, develop fitness and become disciplined and focussed, while of course having fun.”
