What's Going to Replace Turnham Green Chinese?

New owners cagey about plans for new restaurant to replace popular takeaway

Fans of the Turnham Green Chiswick takeaway restaurant will be disappointed to learn that it is not being refurbished but has closed for good.

The owners have claimed that rising rents and business rates made it impossible to continue at the site. The takeaway restaurant came to national attention when the sign outside the restaurant was altered to say 'Turn Green Chinese' which its loyal patrons insisted was not a reference to food hygiene issues.

What is going to replace it remains something of a mystery. The new owners have set up a web site asking people to guess what kind of business they are. Anyone who gives the correct answer has the chance to win a free lunch or the chance to attend their soft opening which will take place in January 2016.

They have said that it will not be an estate agent or coffee shop and that the mention of a 'soft' opening was a clue to the type of food they were serving. One guess that has been put to us so far is that it is a Cornish ice cream parlour due to the mention of 'soft' and the domain of their web site being registered by a Truro based company. The offer of a free lunch seems to indicate this is off the mark.
