Donor support enables comfortable viewing ahead of packed programme
June 24, 2024 With perfect timing, given the belated arrival of summer, Theatre at the Tabard has got its new air condition system up and running. It has been testing it out and is now able to confirm that it keeps the venue, which previously could get a bit stuffy, comfortably cool. The theatre is keen to than the members and donors for the support that it has received over the last year which has enabled this investment. For information about how to become a member, make a donation or sponsor a production email info@tabard.org.uk. The upgrade comes in time for a packed season of productions beginning this week. Fluffy Top Productions visit the Tabard with their staged radio play in ‘Pride & Prejudice On Air’ an irreverent retelling of the Jane Austen classic running from Monday 24 - Wednesday 26 June. From Friday 28 June West End star Kim Ismay appears in the return of About Bill; the Tabard’s award-winning musical about the put-upon women in a mischievous rogue’s life (the aforementioned Bill!). Come and see Kim sing and transform into the lives of 11 varied characters for just five performances. Both shows this week start from £15 and run at approximately 60 minutes. Book tickets. One of Britain’s most celebrated composers comes to life as Michael Lunts gives us a one-man musical drama in The Enigma of Edward Elgar on Sunday 30 June. James B Partridge recently was on the BBC’s One Show doing a feature on his tour which comes to the Tabard on Sunday 7 July. Visit the page on the Tabard website to see the feature. He will be performing two exclusive Edinburgh previews of his Primary School singalong show on Sunday 7 July, ahead of his month-long run at the festival.
James first performed at the Tabard in March 2023 as one of the first venues where he tried out his show and has since been back twice more. He now commands sold-out shows at major venues nationwide, including a coveted slot at this year's Glastonbury Festival in the Theatre and Circus tent. He will also return to the Tabard at Christmas for a special festive edition on 23 December - early booking is recommended. Extra dates have been confirmed for Queen starring Sara Crowe, Grace Darling and the voice of Prunella Scales. Written entirely in Victoria’s own words, ‘Queen’ is a prism through which insights into the modern monarchy – its struggles with self-worth, illness, family strife and wily politicians – can be seen with the benefit of hindsight. As ‘An Evening with Queen Victoria’, the play was a world-wide success for 28 years for Prunella Scales, who now features in recently-recorded voiceover made for this adaptation. This show plays for two exclusive previews at the Tabard, prior to its run at the Assembly Rooms at the Edinburgh Festival and returns in September. There are previews on Sunday 28 July ahead of performances from 4-7 September. Book tickets here.
Theatre at the Tabard is at 2 Bath Road, Chiswick (W4 1LW).
