A riotous comedy that demonstrates how even the most innocent conversation can land you in deep trouble is to be performed at the Tabard Theatre.

Andrew Cartmel’s Dressing Gown is being staged from Wednesday 10 – Saturday 27 July and directed by Jenny Eastop.

Tom Asher has two immediate aims. To prevent his life tipping into catastrophe. And to get dressed.

It turns out neither will be easy — in fact both rapidly escalate towards impossibility — as he fends off a series of eccentric visitors whose sole aim seems to be test his patience, his professionalism, his sanity — and his resolve not to be dragged into a disastrous liaison with an alluring young woman who really just wants revenge on her boyfriend, who just happens to be Tom’s best friend and his business partner. What unfolds is a series of events, underscoring the significance of the simple (or complicated) act of getting dressed.

Andrew Cartmel’s previous shows include acclaimed runs at the OSO Arts Theatre, the Hen and Chickens and the White Bear. He is well known for his tenure as script editor on Doctor Who and his Vinyl Detective and Paperback Sleuth series of crime novels.

Mercurius Theatre’s Offie Nominated Jenny Eastop is on board to direct, with recent shows at The Park Theatre, Finborough and Riverside Studios. This is Andrew and Jenny’s second collaboration following on from As Real as Anything.

The play is produced by Simon and Sarah Reilly for Take Note.

Performances will be from Wednesday to Friday at 7:30pm and at 6pm on Saturdays and the play lasts an hour and ten minutes with no interval.

Ticket prices:
£12 – performances 10 and 11 July
£18/£15 concessions – performances 12 to 20 July
£20/£17 concessions – performances 24th to 27th July
Running time approximately 70 minutes, no interval

Book online or call 020 8995 6035. In person bookings can be made at the theatre half an hour before each performance.

Theatre at the Tabard is at 2 Bath Road, Chiswick (W4 1LW).
