A one-off concert is being performed in Chiswick later this month to mark the centenary of the death of the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini.

At 7.30pm on Sunday 27 April at St Peter’s Church on Southfield Road, baritone Giuseppe De Luca and pianist Antonio Morabito will present Celebrating Puccini.

These two Italian musicians will perform a  programme feature Puccini and other works in the Italian musical Verismo style.

The programme includes the most beautiful opera arias by Puccini and Tosti, the two most important Italian verismo musicians. These chamber and opera arias will be juxtaposed and interspersed with lyrical pieces by Chopin, performed on the piano by Antonio Morabito.

During the concert, the performers will provide detailed explanations of the musical context and the meaning of the lyrics of each song to guide the audience in appreciating every nuance of meaning, individualism and beauty in these songs.

The concert is sponsored by the Italian Consulate General in London.

Tickets cost £15 or £7.50 under 25s and students and can be booked online.
