Ed Vulliamy of the Guardian to give pre-US election talk
The award winning Guardian journalist and writer, who for the last 6 years was US correspondent for The Observer, is to give a talk entitled 'Marching to Armageddon' at the Brentford and Isleworth Labour party offices on Chiswick High Road. He will trace the rise of the 'neo-cons' (such as Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, John Bolton, Elliott Abrahams and other architects of PNAC, the Project for the New American Century) in Washington and President Bush's alliance with the Zionist lobby and the Christian fundamentalist right. Beyond the present US administration's overt support for Israel lies a further agenda and Ed Vulliamy will also look at the important strategic and commercial position that Israel occupies in current US foreign policy thinking. Ed Vulliamy has written perceptively and often critically about US political life and the current administration in the White House. This promises to be an illuminating talk highlighting the threat that these new alliances pose to the establishment of a truly independent state for the Palestinians. The West London PSC (Palestinian Solidarity Campaign) is holding this talk as part of a series of public meetings. The talk will take place on the 12th October beginning at 8pm and admission is free. N.B. PSC West London is not affiliated to any political party and their meetings have no connection to the local Labour party beyond the use of their premises. September 23, 2004
