Iraq War puts paid to Chiswick Crusade
Comedy
Musical about the first crusade cancelled due to recent world events
Two
performances of the "Rocky Crusade" a new production that
was being staged at St. Paul's Church in Grove Park have been cancelled.
Although the musical was a light-hearted affair it was felt that
the timing was inappropriate due to current military action. A spokesperson
for the production said, "The cast felt that it would be insensitive
to put on a light-hearted piece about The Crusades, albeit one which
highlight the tragedy of war and in no way glorified it."
The
show was written locally and told the story of the First Crusade
in the eleventh century which took Jerusalem.
It
was originally scheduled to take place on the 5th and 6th April.
The production may be restaged at a later date
