The Chiswick Horticultural Society Summer Show took places at Duke’s Meadows Community Association Hall on Sunday 15 June.

There were some excellent entries from newcomers this year - including Will Webb (pictured right) who was astonished to win four cups - for highest number of points in the Vegetable, Fruit and Domestic classes.

It was a family affair as his daughter Emily won the CHS Cup (a new award in 2008) for the highest number of points in the Children’s Classes.

Lorraine Taylor again won the Leach Bowl and Rose Society Medal for highest total of points in the Rose Classes.

There was a new winner in the Domestic Classes - this time Catherine Steel won first prize.

Overall the judges, Peter Mazillius, Jill Morris and Jenny Mullins, said the standard was extremely high.

The recent mixed weather meant that the Sweet Pea classes were much reduced but the Rose Classes were “sensational”.

The prizes were awarded by outgoing Chairman - John Hole.

Teas and cakes were served by Dawn Walsh and her team of cheerful helpers.
