The world premiere of an original musical about the life of King David to be staged at St Alban’s Church on South Parade.

Over three days in October, the community of Christ Church W4 and other performers from the area will present a version of the biblical story of a shepherd boy who became king. When an enemy army comes knocking, who will stand and fight? And who will ultimately take the throne?

The music and lyrics by James West and the script is by James and Liz West.

The performances will take place on 17, 18 and 19 October and a cash bar will be serving alcoholic and soft drinks plus tea and coffee will be available for one hour before each performance.

Moments of laughter are promised as well as some poignant moments in a show that involves both soloists and a 30-piece chorus singing backing harmony.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children and are available via the church’s website.

All profits go to local children’s and youth work.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
