Hear about the history and renovation of the historic grounds
Chiswick House & Gardens Trust is offering Free Garden Tours, for the local community, of Chiswick House Gardens on specific dates in August, September and October. A spokesperson for Chiswick House and Gardens Trust said, 'Come and discover the spectacular features of the gardens and the fascinating stories which lie behind them. 'The gardens have been loved for centuries. With their combination of grand vistas and hidden pathways, architectural delights and a dazzling array of flowers, shrubs and specimen trees, they create a unique oasis in this corner of London.' The gardens were originally created by Lord Burlington and William Kent in 1729 and were inspired by the sights of the Grand Tour and the romance of classical Italian landscape painting. The 75 minute tours start in the Courtyard of Chiswick House where your Garden Guide will meet you. You will view the highlights of the gardens and hear about their history and renovation including the lake, Ionic Temple, Classic Bridge, Italian Garden and the Conservatory.
