A hospice charity is auctioning off the chance to name a haulage truck at its summer party.

CHASE, a children's hospice service which provides a network of care to families with life-limited children and young people in London, Surrey and Sussex, has persuaded Eddie Stobart haulage company to let the highest bidder at their auction name one of its trucks.

The auction will be held on September 12th at the charity's Late Summer Party at Chiswick’s Pissarro restaurant.

Friends of CHASE chairman, Joanna Smith, said, "I just thought it would be fun and rather different. We were delighted when Eddie Stobart agreed to the idea, and because it's such a rare opportunity, we decided we'd open the auction to members of the public too.

"All their 1,500 trucks have names, and there's a waiting list of several years for the chance to name a new truck through the usual channels. We have no idea how much we'll raise for CHASE with this auction offer. We hope it will run into hundreds of pounds."

If you would like to make an advance bid, please contact the CHASE fundraising office on 01483 454213 or email fundraising manager Alessio Di Capua at AlessioDi.Capua@chasecare.org.uk.

NB. Only girls' names are allowed and all bids must be in by 5.00pm on Thursday September 11.
