Lack of Planning from Councillors | |||||
Meeting cancelled because not enough of them could turn up
Chiswick Area Committee planning meeting had to be cancelled last week due to an insufficient number of Councillors being able to attend. Council Leader, Peter Thompson, who sits on the Committee said, "Several Councillors are unsurprisingly on holiday at this time of year and therefore we always know that numbers would be down for this meeting but we expected to have enough to make the meeting quorate. A last minute work commitment prevented one member from getting back to Chiswick in time for the meeting and therefore it had to be cancelled. This is an extremely rare and unfortunate occurrence. " Agenda items included requests for planning permission and planning enforcement matters as well as development application by the former John Bull Public House. There were also two proposal to 'stop up' the public highway on Chiswick High Road and near Sutton Court. Eight of the nine Councillors on the Chiswick Planning Committee did manage to turn up to a meeting of the Borough Council the previous week. On the agenda was a vote on a proposal to raise Councillors' allowances. The items on the agenda will be dealt with at the next meeting of the committee on Wednesday, 5th September. August 4, 2007
