Age Concern Chiswick (ACC) is to hold Spring Celebration at which the recently appointed Mayor of Hounslow, Karen Smith, will unveil a new artwork.

The event at its premises on Oxford Road North takes place on Thursday 6 June starting at 12:30pm. It is open to all members of the club.

The highlight of the day at around 1.15pm will be the unveiling of a mosaic that has been hand-made and personally created by the members of the club themselves.

Artist Kim Porrelli, who specialises in mosaics, worked with club members over the course of several weeks to produce a mural that aims to encapsulates the welcoming and all-embracing ethos of the club.

The unveiling will be followed by a lunch with the mayor and, back-by-popular-demand, Maria’s Singalong Chorus will lead an interactive singing session of much-loved songs.

Chairman of ACC, David Lovegrove said, ‘It is an honour to have the mayor partake in our celebrations and recognize the contribution of Age Concern Chiswick volunteers and club members who come together to alleviate loneliness and bring a bit of joy into each other’s lives”.

The ACC Friendship Club aims to provide engagement and companionship for older people in Chiswick, Brentford and nearby areas.

ACC’s main hall is one of the largest in the area and is where it holds the majority of its activities. It has a well-appointed kitchen adjacent to its refreshment room which operates as a cafe serving snacks and refreshments. Outside there is an attractive garden which is maintained by volunteers,
